Client-side project support — from audit to go-live

Duration

Main deliverable
technical requirements document and deployment support

Who it's for: an IT department preparing a tender to integrators, wanting to frame the market before launching it, and then to make sure that what is delivered matches what was ordered.

The problem: without an independent technical requirements document, the tender is framed by the integrators themselves and the bids become impossible to compare. And a requirements document, however well written, guarantees nothing on its own: the gap widens during deployment, when nobody on the client side has the time or the expertise to check line by line what is actually being implemented.

What I do

  • Phase 1 — analysis of the existing estate. Virtualisation, servers, storage, backup, network. Versions, vendor support, risks, reuse scenarios.
  • Phase 2 — sizing. Application mapping, collection of real workloads, validation of requirements, sizing of the target with documented assumptions.
  • Phase 3 — framing the tender. Comparative study of market architectures, analysis of budget offers, drafting of the technical requirements document and of the bid evaluation grid. Support in analysing the responses and in the technical exchanges with the bidders.
  • Phase 4 — deployment support. Review of the integrator's execution documents before works, control points at each milestone, verification that the installation conforms to the requirements, technical support in resolving blockers, participation in acceptance testing and documented reservations before sign-off.

Deliverables

  • analysis report on the existing estate
  • sizing document and open calculation model
  • target architecture study
  • technical requirements document, ready for tender
  • bid evaluation grid and comparative analysis of the offers
  • conformity reports at the deployment milestones

What changes

you define the ground on which integrators bid, instead of choosing between proposals that cannot be compared — and you have, all the way to sign-off, a technical representative defending your interests rather than the supplier's.

Prerequisites: access to the administration consoles, an infrastructure contact, business contacts to qualify the requirements. In phase 4: access to the integrator's deliverables and schedule, and an invitation to the project review meetings.
